ERNEST ZEMIANSKI After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest Zemianski on March 22, 2011 at Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side. Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Alec and Mary Zemianski and sister, Cassie Koral. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Darcia (Mandziuk), daughters Tamara (Paul) Kochanski and Tanya (Cameron) Pow; grandchildren Paige and Brendan Kochanski and Alicia and Emma Pow; brother, Albert (Janet) Zemianski, sisters Phyllis Skabar and Lena Waverick, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ernie was born May 31, 1937 and raised in Oakburn, MB. Upon graduating high school he moved to Winnipeg to study and pursue a career in x-ray technolgy. After a career spanning over 25 years with the Radiology Consultants of Winnipeg, Ernie retired to spend time with his family and wife Darcia. Retirement was spent golfing in the summer and curling in the winter. Ernie and Darcia first and foremost enjoyed family weekends at their cottage in Lac Du Bonnet. We are grateful for the many memories of time spent with family and friends at the lake. Dad loved being at the cottage whether spending time fishing or sitting by the water with a book. After the work was done, the cottage was his summer paradise to spend with his family, although he was known to relish the quiet time on Sunday nights when all the kids went home. Dad's favourite pastimes included travel, although he hated the flying, the destination of the family's annual winter vacation made the journey worthwhile. Dad loved reading and spending time puttering in the yard. He always prided himself in having the greenest grass on the street. Ernie never said no to playing cards and many weekends were spent with the family around a poker table. Our games will never be the same. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba and Health Sciences Centre. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment and Reception to follow. Officiating clergy V. Rev. G. Mielnik and V. Rev. J. A. Melnyk. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Ernie's memory may be made to CancerCare Foundation, 675 McDermot, R3E 0V9.
