MARGARET ALICE LONGHURST (nee Kerr) 1918 - 2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Marlene Durling, Sandra (Remi) Cote, Shelley Smith, her sons Jay Smith of Edmonton and Kim (Karin) Smith of Calgary, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son-in-law George Durling and granddaughter Susan Joy. Mom was born and raised in the town of Gladstone. She married our dad John Smith July 2, 1937 and lived in Poplar Point and Neepawa until his death in 1979. In 1991 mom married Clare Longhurst and lived in Kelowna until Clare passed away in 1996 at which time Mom returned to Winnipeg. Mom was a kind and gentle lady and we will miss her more then words can say. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the nurses, nurses aids and kitchen staff who so kindly looked after mom over the past four years at Golden Door. Cremation has taken place and as per mother's wishes a family graveside service will be held on Monday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of one's choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
