BERT PERLMUTTER June 13, 1922 - March 21, 2011 Bert Perlmutter passed away at Lions Personal Care Centre with his children by his side. A quiet man, Bert didn't talk much, but when he did it was with conviction, sense and, more often than not, humour. He was an independent and progressive thinker much concerned with social justice and environmental issues, an honest man who always played fair with people, a self-effacing person who disliked calling attention to himself. He faced his last few years of declining health with equanimity. He was a wonderful dad and zaida and we will miss him very much. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Miriam; brothers and sisters Morris, Freda, Rose, Jack, Harry, Hymie and Shirley; wives Goldye in 1969 and Pearl in 2005. He is survived by his daughter Maureen; sons Steve and Shane; daughters-in-law Lisbeth and Marni; grandchildren Rebecca, Jonah, Molly and Poppy; Pearl's daughters Dori (Jeff) and Diane (Guy) and grandson Eli. The family would like to extend our deep appreciation to the staff of the Lions Personal Care Centre who made a wonderful home for Bert and showed him much friendship, care and support. In keeping with Bert's wishes, his body has been donated to the Department of Human Anatomy, University of Manitoba and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lions Personal Care Centre, 320 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2W6, or a charity of your choice.
