Left to forever cherish Mom's memory is her sister Bunny (Dorothy) Friesen (Larry); three children, Greg (Gwen) in Edmonton, Mary Lou Hodge, and Pam (Gene) Semchych; five grandchildren Blaine (Karen) Hodge, Justin Hodge and Troy Hodge, Kris Semchych, Melanie (Denny) LeBreton; great-grandson Colin Michael Hodge; sister-in-law Julie Hodge; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Dad, Dr. Andy Hodge; brother Walter Slobodianek (Elaine); parents Anna and Michael Slobodianek, infant brother Boris, as well as brother-in-law Ned Hodge and sister-in-law Charlotte Warren. Born in Teulon, to Michael and Anna Slobodianek Mom grew up there along with her brother Wally and sister Bunny. She attended United College and Normal School in preparation for a teaching career. She and Dad married in 1946 and a couple years later they moved to Hamiota to establish their home and Dad's veterinary practice. Although in declining health in recent years, Mom had been a very caring and active woman - a fabulous cook, an energetic gardener and an avid curler. Along with Andy, she brought up their three children and was a vital part of Dad's veterinary practice in Hamiota. Since dad's death in 1985, Mom has lived with Lou in Winnipeg. She loved outings to Assiniboine Park's Leo Mol Sculpture Garden and the Assiniboine Park Zoo. They shared a love of the music of Oscar Peterson, Michael Buble and Tony Bennett. A private Interment for Mom will take place in Hamiota at a later date. Donations in Mom's memory may be made to the Assiniboine Park Zoo, 55 Pavilion Crescent, Winnipeg, MB, R3P 2N6.
