WENDY LEE WALL (nee HAMES) October 8, 1948 - March 28, 2011 Quietly, before sunrise, with her son at her side, Wendy found peace. After successfully beating cancer, Wendy bravely took on other health challenges, fighting them as best she could. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Wendy is predeceased by her dad Gordon Hames, her beloved mom Phyllis Hames (nee Butterfield) and stepbrother Keith Hames. She is survived by her brother Larry Hames; husband Blaine Wall; son Dameon Wall; and daughters, Trista Malinowski and Lisa Klassen. She also has six loving grandchildren, Riley, Bailey, and Brody Malinowski, Sébastien and Zenaide Wall, Tyler Burnham; daughter-in-law Monique Wall (nee Nault); and sons-in-law, Gary Malinowski and Dan Klassen. She grew up in Kenton, Manitoba, and often spoke fondly of her time there. Later in life she moved to Winnipeg, and ultimately settled with her young family in Warren, Manitoba, where she lived since 1976. For many years she was an active volunteer in the community - working at the arena concession booth, and with the local figure skating club. Wendy always put her family first, and cherished the times spent with her husband, kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She leaves behind many warm memories, and handmade treasures. A prolific knitter, there are many sweaters and afghans which will help keep her memory alive, and her loved ones warm. Wendy also had warm memories of many camping trips to Hecla Island, and her family will celebrate her life and honour her memory there this summer. An extremely private person, she wishes for only family and close friends to gather to remember her. The family would like to extend its sincerest thanks to the staff of the Fifth Floor's Extended Care ward at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Special thanks to her nurses, Danielle and Marlet. They worked extremely hard to ensure her comfort during a difficult time. They made her the center of attention, and for that, we are extremely grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wendy's name to the cancer charity of your choice, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Huntington Society of Canada. We sadly say goodbye to a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. You will be remembered always.
