Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTHA CLAEYS Quietly and peacefully Bertha passed away in her sleep on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Poseidon Care Centre. Predeceased by her husband George, her parents Jules and Antoinette Paquin, her brothers Joseph, Teddy and Peter, and her sisters Jeanette Morand and Bernice Lang. Remaining to cherish her memory are her son Bob, daughter-in-law Nancy, granddaughters Michelle Bell (Gary Bell) and Shannon Claeys (Richard Kaye) and her beloved great-grandson, Ian Bell. Also left to mourn her passing are her brothers Phil Paquin, Ronald Raquin and Hector Paquin (Shirley), and her sisters Annette Delorme, Cecile Benoit, Nina Brouillette, Alice Letkeman (Dave), Diane Maybroda (Eugene) and sister-in-law Doris Paquin, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Bertha was born March 20, 1924 in Marchand, Manitoba. As eldest of 14 children, she learned responsibility at a very young age. She often recounted stories of her grandmother teaching her to bake bread and make meals at age eight. Upon moving to Winnipeg as a young woman, she worked at various jobs until she met her husband, George Claeys. Together they settled in St. Boniface where they raised their only son Bob. In 1978 Bertha and George moved to their condo in River Heights where they retired. Bertha loved bingo, dancing with George at La Verendrye club in St. Boniface on Saturday nights, and horse racing at Assiniboia Downs. She loved spending time with her family but most especially visits from her great-grandson Ian, whom she loved dearly. The family would like to extend its sincerest thanks to the staff on the 4th floor Poseidon Care Centre for the love and care they gave to Bertha these last four years. We are most grateful to all of you. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Eugene Parish at 1007 St. Mary's Road with Father Kevin Bettens officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of one's choice would greatly appreciated. Deep in our hearts your memory is kept to Love, to Cherish, to never forget Thomson In the ParK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
