EDITH RUTH PENNER Our sister, Edith Ruth Penner was born August 6, 1938 in Winnipeg to Jacob and Justina Penner (nee Martens). She was the first born child of eight children and resided in the farm home for 32 years at Oak Bluff until 1970. It was the year Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer that Edith and Wanda joined sister Laura and became residents of MDC in Portage. While there they received excellent care by an awesome loving staff, going beyond the call of duty, looking after her for over 40 years, always in her best interest, until her peaceful passing on March 25, 2011. We will forever cherish your love for her and the care she received. A big thank you! She will be greeted at the Gates of Heaven by her father, Jacob Penner who left us in 1971, mother Jessie Penner in 2003, sister Laura in 1991. We, the remaining siblings and spouses are Marlene (John Giesbrecht), Hedy (Albert Janzen), Dora Bethune, Betty (Tom Hiebert), Wanda and brother Wilf (Elma), also numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, John Rempel and David Bethune. The funeral service will be held at the MDC, 840 Third St. N.E., Portage la Prairie on Friday, April 1 at 1:30 p.m. with viewing prior to the service. Interment will be at the Springstein Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Manitoba Camp Legacy Inc., P.O. Box 1532, Portage La Prairie, MB.
