She was predeceased by her husband Jack with whom she shared 60 wonderful years, her parents Jack and Bessie Riesenberg, her brothers Harry and Mickey, and her sister Becky and her beloved granddaughter Devorah Bess Knazan Goodman. Her great-grandsons Jericho and Ethan, sisters Clarice Rubin (Jack) and Joyce Shimoji, and her many nieces and nephews. Sylvia had a lasting impact on the lives of all who were privileged to meet her. For a petite lady her heart was large enough to care for everyone whether they were family, friend, or a stranger she met and sensed needed comforting. For those of us she has left behind the void is filled by life's lessons she has imparted to us about the importance of loving and caring for each other. Special thanks to Ann, Rani, Diana, Eva, Cynthia, Angelina and her nurses Roann and Val. Funeral service was March 29, 2011 at Etz Chayim Synagogue with Rabbi Lander and Cantor Tracy Kasner Greaves officiating. Pallbearers were son-in-law Gary Croll, grandsons Josh, Daniel and Harry and nephews Mark Finkelstein, Bert Finkelstein and Ron Rubin. Honourary Pallbearers were all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the Canadian Human Rights Museum or a charity of your choice.
