ELNA NEUFELD (nee Friesen) January 7, 1931 - March 29, 2011 Suddenly, while in the presence of God's peace, Elna Neufeld passed away on March 29, 2011. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Friesen and son, Rodney Keith. Elna was born in Rosengart, Manitoba; the second oldest of six children. Her family settled on a farm near Homewood. After graduating from Mennonite College Institute, she attended Canadian Mennonite Bible College where she met the love of her life, Henry Neufeld. After their marriage in 1952, they started their teaching careers in Moose Lake and then Little Grand Rapids. In 1955, they moved to Pauingassi under Native Ministries, upon invitation of the Elders, serving there till 1970. After several moves back and forth between Winnipeg and Springstein, Elna and Henry settled in St. Vital and lived there until their move to Bethel Place in 2010. Elna is survived by her loving husband Henry; daughter Carol (John) Dyck; son Gerald (Rose); daughter Lila Hillman (Tim); daughter Arlie (Evan) Schulz; son Merle (Marilyn) along with her grandchildren Natasha (Russ), Justin, Jannelle, Derek, Brett, Jason, Cara, Amanda, Melissa, Cory, Brenden, Kalena and great-grandson, Nixon; along with her brother and sisters, cousins and many friends. A celebration of Elna's life will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Homewood Church Cemetery. In memory of Elna, donations will be accepted for Native Ministries, 600 Shaftesbury Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3P 0M4
