BERNICE MARIE BERTHELETTE (SOUCY) December 13, 1928 - March 30, 2011 Bernice Berthelette (Soucy) of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2011 at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 82. Bernice was born in the community of Ste. Amelie, Manitoba. She graduated in 1946 from Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba and went on to become a school teacher. Bernice more than enjoyed, she loved her school teaching career in the surrounding areas of Ste. Rose du Lac and in Winnipeg. She taught school in Methley 1946 to 1947, acquired more training in Winnipeg 1947 to 1948, and taught in McCreary 1948 to 1951. Bernice and Charles were married in July of 1951. She then taught at Kirkfield District 1951 to 1952, Winnipeg No. 1 District at Earl Grey School and Harrow School 1953 to 1958. She then gave up teaching temporarily to start raising her family in 1959 but went back teaching at Ralph Brown School in Winnipeg for one more year. Bernice was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Charles Joseph Berthelette; her parents, Amelie and Edouard Soucy; her brothers Elsime (Lucille), Louis (Angeline) and her sister Adele Rivard. Bernice will be missed very much by her daughters Patsy (Robert) and Lois; grandchildren Aerynn, Lisa, Justin, Leanne and Aimee; great-grandchildren Aevan and Adhara; her sister Irma Bradshaw (Orin - deceased) and brother Lucien (Rosanne), as well as many relatives and friends. The door to Bernice's home and heart was always open to everyone, no matter where she lived. There seemed to always be a pot of soup on the stove at the Do Drop Inn and we all felt welcome, no matter what. Now she will be waiting to welcome us into her new heavenly home with that beautiful smile we remember. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Barry Schoonbaert at the St. Vital Parish Church, 1629 Pembina Highway, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Private interment of Bernice's cremated remains will take place at a later date. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220
