FERN GREGG It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our treasured Mom, Granny and Great-Granny, Fern Gregg on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the age of 82 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to forever cherish Fern's memory are children, Rob (Robbi), Kim (David), Cathy (Stan) and Jim (Val); beloved grandchildren, Chris (Shaundra), Leanne (Wayne), Trisha (Brandon), Mike (Candace), Ally (Alex), Lindsay (Mark), Sean, Ashley (Donovan) and Selena; as well as by great-grandchildren Kayla, Riley, Lexi, Charlotte, Daniel and Mati. She was predeceased by her husband Harold; sister Peggy and brother-in-law Harley. Mom was born in Winnipeg on December 18, 1928 and grew up in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. She worked for the Workers Compensation Board and Wawanesa Insurance and closer to retirement worked for several years with Canadian International Holidays after coming in for a few days to stuff brochures. Mom and Dad had the opportunity to travel to many destinations which they thoroughly enjoyed. All holidays were a true celebration because of Mom's great cooking. She was a wonderful Granny and Great-Granny, always generous with her time visiting and babysitting and helping out as needed. All the grandkids had the most beautiful hand-knitted sweaters and bonnets that she created. Mom and Dad enjoyed their backyard pool and in later years thoroughly enjoyed their trailer and the great outdoors at Long Bow Lake. On Saturday, April 23, 2011 a Celebration of Mom's Life will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg. A special thanks to Dr. Leylek and staff at CancerCare, Dr. Werier and staff for the many years of care, and the wonderful staff at Sturgeon Creek II for making our Mom's time there most enjoyable. Words alone seem inadequate to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Grace Hospice - you are all truly angels. Mom felt privileged to spend her last days in your care! Mom was a huge believer in organ and tissue donation, so in her memory, consider signing an organ donor card. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Grace Hospice, 260 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3R5.
