MARGUERITE JEAN MACGREGOR Marguerite-Jean Liddell MacGregor passed away peacefully on March 18, 2011 at the age of 92. Marg was born January 17, 1919 in Winnipeg to David and Martha (Bryan) Rossini. She attended Grosvenor and Robert H. Smith Schools and upon graduation from Kelvin High School began her business career working as an executive assistant in the grain business. Marg was an accomplished tennis player in her youth, having grown up playing competitive tennis at Fort Rouge Tennis Club with her sisters, learning the game from her Scottish father who spent many patient hours as coach and teacher. In 1950, Marg married her high school sweetheart, Douglas McLean MacGregor, also of Winnipeg, after he returned from serving in the Second World War and soon after, started a family. She remained active playing tennis and eventually took up the game of golf, Doug's lifelong passion. She was a member of St. Charles Country Club for over 40 years where she and Doug spent many happy days playing golf with their family and friends. She served as President of the Ladies Section of St. Charles and held many other volunteer positions throughout her life. She continued to be active with many interests and had an indomitable spirit up until her passing. Family was very important to Marg and her greatest joy was her children, David and Janet, as well as her two grandchildren, Jill and Jeff, taking enormous pride in every one of their accomplishments. And in typical fashion, she was always quick to provide a little advice along the way, with a classic Scottish phrase thrown in for good measure. Marg will be truly missed by her family and many dear friends. She is survived by her son, David, daughter-in-law, Jane, grandchildren Jill and Jeff, all of Winnipeg, and her daughter Janet, son-in-law Jim, of San Francisco, brother-in-law Dr. Charles Burns, as well as her nieces and nephews, all of whom she was very proud. In keeping with Marg's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
