GREEN April 30, 1931 - April 1, 2011 After a short and courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side, Lorne passed away April 1, 2011. He is survived by Karen, his wife of 37 years; brother Rick Gordon (Jackie); children, Dan Green (Ruth), Karen Green, Tracy Fiebelkorn (Randy), Cheryl Morash (Randy); stepchildren, Shannon McClintock (Doug) and Chris Green, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Myrtle; brother Gordon; and sister Joyce. Lorne was born in Wabigoon, Ontario. He moved to Winnipeg in his youth, and resided the last 50 years in the Selkirk area. Dad was a firefighter with the Winnipeg Fire Department for 37 years, and retired as District Chief in 1992. Following his retirement, he served on the Honour Guard from 1992 to 2010. He also volunteered with the Salvation Army. One of Dad's biggest passions was hunting season and he looked forward to hunting with his friends every year. He was also a fixture at Tim Horton's for his early morning meetings with friends. A special thank you to the ambulance drivers for their wonderful help. Also to Dr. Fuchs, nurses, Ramona, Barb, Catherine, and Mike for all their efforts and care. Up until his last day, Dad would tell anyone who asked, he was 100% . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Firefighters Burn Fund or the Salvation Army. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk.
