DONALD CAWSTON SMITH 1926 2011 On Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre, Donald Smith passed away at the age of 84 years. Don was predeceased by his wife Pauline, brothers Harold, Dick and Gordon, and sister Mary. He leaves to mourn his passing daughter Linda, son Larry (Laurie), grandchildren Marie-Claire (Cody), Stéfan, Nathalie, and Daniel as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He also leaves to mourn his special friend Gladys. Don was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB, where he received his education. Don worked for Domtar Chemicals Ltd. for most of his career as an Office Manager. Don was an avid walker, walking five miles a day, seven days a week well into his later years. He was a devoted Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He also remained very active participating in sports like curling and bowling. He was a kind and devoted family man who was very compassionate. He was very generous and would lend a hand to most anyone in need. Most of all Don will be remembered for his unforgettable sense of humor. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with interment and reception to follow. The family would like to express special thanks to all of the staff of GD3 - Step Down Unit at Health Sciences Centre for all their compassion and special care they showed Dad right up until the very end.
