Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHERI LEE BRELAND (nee TELKE) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, auntie, cousin, daughter and friend on Saturday April 2, 2011 at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 38 as a result of a cranial chordoma. Sheri was predeceased by her father Erwin Telke on November 1, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Joseph; daughters Renee (12) and Taylor (6), her mother Karen Friesen (Leonard), sisters and their families Sandy (Niles), Shelley (Cliff) and Sharon (David) along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know and cherish her. Sheri was born in Winnipeg on January 25, 1973 growing up in Lockport attending school in East Selkirk and Selkirk ultimately graduating from the University of Winnipeg with a degree in Environmental Studies. Many knew Sheri as being a sports enthusiast. She enjoyed engaging in conversation about many sports, but was humble regarding conversation that she was a very gifted basketball player. Being a star player for the Selkirk Royals and continuing to play for the Winnipeg Wesmen Womens team helping the team win championships and earning a scholarship to complete her degree. Sheri played for the Canadian National Womens team as well, making many friends along the way. Her many jobs included Sonia's Stand, The Old Spaghetti Factory and Captain Kennedy Teahouse where she met her husband JoeJoe.' In addition, she made many close friends during her career with MTS up until her leave. Her MTS family' remained very supportive during her illness Sheri touched the lives of many people with her outgoing, sparkling personality. Her presence was a ray of sunshine to all of those around her. She was an inspiration to all of those whose lives she touched during her short time with us. Her love and passion for animals, especially dogs, was evident especially when she used her convincing abilities to make her loved ones accept and keep them. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with interment to follow in the Selkirk Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences Centre, PANSU Unit - Seven Oaks and the Selkirk General Hospital. A very special thank you to volunteer, Corrie, of the palliative care unit. Joe would like to thank the family and friends who visited and cared for Sheri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Selkirk Palliative Care Unit, Box 5000, Selkirk, MB, R1A 2M2. Wow..12 years since you left us. Your smile, love, compassion, words of hope, and true friendship will always be carried in the hearts of all who were so lucky to have a great Lady in thier lives. Hey Sher!! I sure hope they have enough bacon in heaven for you up there!! LOL! I can still see your happy beautiful smile every day when I drive by your old house and can feel your love always. I thank God for allowing me to be part of your life and thank you for being such a great friend and person. I miss our special talks and the quiet talks where nothing had to be said at all. Your laughter always made me happy. I will forever sing our special song for you "FUNNY FACE" and think of your big glowing smile!!
