NORMAN GEORGE IRVING It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Norman at the age of 91. Our father was a true gentleman who is survived by his four sons: Gord and Donna, grandchildren Doug, Deanne, Joanna; son Don and Judy, grandchildren Karen and Mike; son Alan and Gerry and Al's children Kim, Tracey, Andrew and Lee; son Ray and Gaby, grandchildren Rebecca and Haley. Dad had 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He also has a special cousin Izora Frazer of Calgary. Our father was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Frances from which he never recovered. Sadly, he was also predeceased by his grandchild Matthew and his siblings Bill, Ina, Marg and Betty. Dad was born September 9, 1919 in Solsgirth, Manitoba. He farmed with his father and then enlisted in the army and served overseas. He returned injured and recovered in Shoal Lake, Manitoba with our mother and her family. They moved to Winnipeg where they were long time residents of Fort Rouge and involved in the community. Our father was employed with The Free Press for many enjoyable years. Our parents were inseparable and made many trips with many different groups and couples. They had numerous friends and enjoyed the varied company that visited their home. They were always up for an adventure and were a great inspiration for our family. Our father lived his life with integrity. We will miss him and were proud to have him as our Dad! We could only wish to have the many friends that he had during his long life. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn at 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined and if you wish, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Since the passing of our Mother, our Father lived in Riverwood Square where he enjoyed his time and for the final two months received such great care and respect at Middlechurch Home. The family extends their appreciation! For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
