Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE HENRY DE VOS October 30, 1919 April 4, 2011 Dad passed away peacefully on April 4, 2011 at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home. He was 91 years old. Dad was born in Sanford, MB to Victor and Irma De Vos on October 30, 1919. He was the eldest of five children. The family moved to Fort Whyte where Wal-Mart now stands. In the 1930s they moved to Lot 101 Waverley St., St. Norbert, MB where they operated a dairy and grain farm. In the early 50s Dad, Mom and brother Joe bought the farm from their Dad. In 1976 Mom and Dad moved to Fort Garry and 1984 moved to Eriksdale. Dad and Mom liked to travel, especially to Arizona in the winter, the East Coast and West Coast. They also spent some of their summers at Twin Beaches, St. Laurent. Dad really enjoyed visitors and driving to see the countryside. Dad is survived by his daughter Sandra (John) Ryden of Eriksdale and grandsons Kyle (Carrie) of Vancouver, Paul and Colin (Ryanna) and great-granddaughter Gabryel all of Eriksdale; son David (Alice) De Vos and granddaughter Karen (Ross) Baldwin and great- grandchildren Carter, Kayden and Kellie of St. Adolphe, Candace (Greg) Gagne and great- granddaughter Madison, step-great-granddaughter Sara of Warren and Lori (fiancé Chris Franz) of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his sister Irene Sternastek; sister-in-law Madeline De Vos and in-laws Heather and Marcel Taillieu, Betty and Jerry Lilley and Joyce Mann all of Winnipeg, along with his aunt Madeline Dusessoy, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes in 2002, siblings Mary, Robert, Joe and his parents. The family would like to thank the staff at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home for the care and compassion shown to Dad and his family for the past year and a half. Also a thank you to the Home Care workers that he had for three and a half years while living at the Lindell Manor. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Eriksdale Recreational Centre with Father Michel Nault officiating. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E. M.
