LOTHAR SCHMIDT 1948 - 2011 On Monday, April 4, 2011 at his residence west of Morden, MB Lothar Schmidt aged 62 years passed away. Lothar taught in the Garden Valley School Division in Winkler, MB for 27 years. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Irene (nee Redekopp), daughter, Jennifer Schmidt-White and her husband Leon of Vancouver, BC, son, Jeff and Julie (Jael, Jette) Stewart Schmidt of England, as well as his stepmother, Victoria Schmidt of Winnipeg, and two brothers, Jurgen Schmidt of Winnipeg and Roland Schmidt in Japan. He was predeceased by both parents, Waldemar and Wally Schmidt. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will take place at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden. Memorial service for the public will be held at Winkler Bible Camp (three miles north of the junction of Highway 3 and 14, northeast of Morden) on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lothar's memory to either the Murakami Centre for Lyme, Box 1240 Hope, BC V0X 1L0 604-869-9922 or Lothar Schmidt Art Scholarship Fund, c/o Garden Valley Collegiate, 736 Main St. Winkler, MB R6W 4C8 204-325-8008.
