ELIZABETH SHAW On Monday, April 4, 2011 Elizabeth Shaw passed away peacefully at the Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 98 years. Left to cherish Elizabeth's memory are her sons Fred (Jeanette), Bill (Joyce), Gary (Irene), Jim (Judy); daughter Carol (Al Runchey); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ed. Elizabeth was born on March 31, 1913. After marrying Ed and raising her family in Winnipeg, she and Dad enjoyed many years together in their home at Winnipeg Beach and their apartment in Selkirk. Their family and friends have many special memories from their time at Winnipeg Beach that are recalled fondly. Mom loved having a good laugh. She loved spending time with her children, and was blessed with an abundance of grandkids and great-grandkids that she loved to spoil. She was a great cook, and all will remember her legendary roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinners. Mom was a wonderful homemaker, and she could sew and knit for hours on end, lovingly creating items for people close to her heart. She will be deeply missed, and we are all lucky and grateful to have had her in our lives. An avid Bomber fan, Mom loved to listen to all the games on the radio. She loved hockey as well, enjoying tuning in to broadcasts of Moose games whenever she could. On Monday, April 11, 2011 a Celebration of Mom's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. For those who wish viewing will take place prior to the Service. Pallbearers will be Elizabeth's grandsons Tim, Tyler, Dan and William Shaw, Richard and Vincent Runchey. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the kind, compassionate staff at Maples Personal Care Home for their care for Mom.
