SARAH TELFER MCKINNEY It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Sarah (Sally) Telfer McKinney, on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at age 97 ¾. Predeceased by her husband William (1979) and daughters Rhoda and Sheila (2010). She is survived by children, Marianne, Robert, Laura, Barbara, and number one grandson Lee, whom she regarded as her son. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her best friend of 65 years, Marie Wilkinson was close by mom's side. Special thanks to Jayne, Gord, and John for your kindnesses to mom. Born and raised in Winnipeg. As a young women, mom worked for the federal government in Ottawa after successfully competing against more than 10,000 people for a job at the Royal Canadian Mint, where she met and married dad, just before his overseas deployment. After the war, they settled in Charleswood, and raised their family. She later returned to work for the federal government in Winnipeg. Mom loved beautiful things, and she was thoughtful, kind, and generous. She enjoyed singing in the choir, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. We would like to thank the staff at Oakview Place for your kindness shown to mom. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
