MARK EDWARD BROWN July 17, 1960 - April 3, 2011 Mark was born on July 17, 1960 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He leaves to mourn two sons, Matthew and Andrew Brown of Edmonton; his parents John and Anna Brown; two brothers, Robert Brown (Joyce) and Doug Brown (Carolyn); and two sisters, Colleen Walker (Tim) and Darlene Typa (Mark). Mark was predeceased by sister-in-law, Doris Brown in 2000. Also mourning his passing are numerous nieces and nephews in Manitoba and the United States. Mark will be missed by his caregivers, volunteers and residents at The Good Samaritan Mill Woods Centre. Special thanks to Pedro, Maria, Mike, Alissa, and Donna for their care and attention. Mark moved to Edmonton in 1986 to attend the North American Baptist College. While there he met his future wife, married and settled in Edmonton where his sons were born. Growing up Mark had a passion for sports, particularly baseball and bodybuilding. In 1999, Mark showed signs of Parkinsonism which progressed quickly and left him dependent on assisted living. Despite the loss of his independence, Mark remained in Edmonton to be near his two sons whom he cherished. Mark underwent deep brain stimulation surgery in 2005 and was hopeful that the surgery would allow him to be independent again and more importantly to renew his relationship with his sons. Mark carried that hope with him and continued to trust God that one day he would be healed. Unfortunately, the healing Mark hoped and prayed for did not come on earth, but we know that today Mark is running and jumping in Heaven with Jesus. ... but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakbank Baptist Church, 26033 Springfield Road, Oakbank, Manitoba. Mark's body will be interred in Manitoba at the Sunnyside Cemetery near his parents' farm.
