Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD CANTOR Passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 28, 2011 at The Simkin Centre. The funeral was held at Congregation Etz Chayim on March 31, 2011. Eddie is survived by his wife, Ruth, his daughters, Nancy (Bert) Wiebe and Fran (Julius) Schellenberg, and his grandchildren Jennifer and Cory Wiebe, Brent, Derek and Erica Schellenberg. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Garber, sister-in-law Minn Cantor and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Harry and mother, Sarah, brother Morris, niece Ricki, son-in-law Jeff and treasured friend Joey. Eddie was born in Winnipeg on January 7, 1930 and graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1959. After being a bachelor for many years, he married Ruth in May of 1971 and took on the challenge of parenting two teenage girls with bravery. Eddie retired in December 2006 after practising as a Chartered Accountant. He was a founding partner in the firm of BCCA, Inc. His personal accolades include a Canadian Bowling Championship in 1959, a tumultuous relationship with the game of golf, curling, tennis and a commitment to exercise and socializing at the Rady Centre. He spent time entertaining grandchildren and friends alike with his well known dry sense of humour. He is best remembered for his dedication to those in need, his genial personality, his sincerity, and his loyalty. He will be affectionately remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Thank you to the staff of the Sharon Home and The Simkin Centre for their care and support for the past four years. Donations may be made in Eddie's memory to the Congregation Etz Chayim or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
