Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES WALLACE (WALLY) BROWN June 10, 1929 - April 9, 2011 Wally passed away quietly at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre in the early hours of April 9, 2011 after an extended struggle with diabetes and chronic renal failure. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June; his sister Mary Lou Angel; his son Glenn and wife Julie, his son Garth and wife Helen and his grandchildren, Curtis, Jennifer, James, Stephanie and Erinn. Wally was born in Vancouver, BC but spent his formative years on a farm near Cartwright, MB raised by his mother Edna. He moved to Toronto, ON in order to finish high school, subsequently met his future wife June Taylor while working at Imperial Oil and then joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police Department. Wally spent the next 19 years as a Detective specializing in Criminal Identification. He relocated his family to Winnipeg, MB in 1973 and completed his working life as a Driver Examiner with the Manitoba Department of Highways until retiring in 1990. He was a passionate Saskatchewan Rough Rider fan! A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB followed by a tea. The family would like to express their appreciation to the many health care professionals at the WHSC that contributed to Wally's care and comfort over the past year. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to go to the Winnipeg Humane Society (Wally was a cat lover!), The Kidney Foundation of Canada or The Canadian Diabetes Association. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
