ANNE HALL 1915 - 2011 Anne passed away on the evening of Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Tuxedo Villa Care Home in Winnipeg after 96 years of life. Anne is remembered by her sister Mary Rogers, daughter Barb Hall, son-in-law Patrick DeVeaux, granddaughter D'Arcy DeVeaux (Harvey Janz), grandsons David (Patricia) and John, great-granddaughters Nicole, Aimee and Megan DeVeaux, great-grandson Mathew DeVeaux and her nieces and nephews and grand and great nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her husband Cliff, her daughter Frances (DeVeaux), her sister Kay (Katherine) Trypka and all her sisters and brothers-in-laws and one nephew. Anne was born in Souris, Manitoba and was the eldest daughter of Mary and Mickey Kuzenko and the eldest sister to Kay and Mary. For the most part Anne grew up on a farm just west of Souris and drove the horses into Souris to attended school. She stated she always wanted to be a nurse after she finished school but that was not to be. So instead she left the farm to go work in town (Souris), then Winnipeg and later in Brandon. It was in Brandon that Anne met and later married her soldier, Cliff in 1941. She travelled with Cliff when he was posed to Borden, Ontario and Debert, Nova Scotia. When Cliff was posted overseas, Anne returned to Brandon and gave birth to their daughter Fran in 1943. After Cliff returned from the war the family moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba where Cliff worked as miner and Anne cared for Fran and was the domestic engineer for the family. In 1956, they gave birth to a second daughter, Barb. Anne loved her immediate family but her grandchildren were her lambs and it was with her grandchildren she became affectionately known by many as Gram . Gram loved to care and cook for her grandchildren and her visits with them were always anticipated and lovingly remembered. Later, when Gram was blessed with great-grandchildren she was always amazed. Gram was an avid reader and nothing gave her more pleasure than to have a quiet morning and read a book and the papers from cover to cover. Her other pleasure was to go out for lunch or meet up with the girls for coffee and a visit. As well, she was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary and the Ladies Wednesday Afternoon Bowling League. Gram lived in her little home on the rock for about 60 years when she was relocated with very much reluctance to D'Arcy's care in Vancouver and then Barb's care in Winnipeg. Gram was generally a quiet woman but she was always grateful for all kindness shown to her. Gram's immediate family would like to thank Gram's other family members and friends in Flin Flon, Vancouver, Winnipeg and elsewhere (you know who you are) that loved and/or cared for Gram as much as we did. A Remembrance service will be held on the evening of Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home located at, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg with a visit with family and friends to follow. Since there will only be family flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7 for Ovarian Cancer Research in Gram's and Fran's memory.
