STEPHEN KEMPA It is with profound sadness that the Kempa family announces the passing of Stephen Kempa on April 9, 2011 at the age of 88. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Evelyn, his daughter Debra (Michael), and two granddaughters Jessica (Keevin) and Rebekah. Also surviving are siblings Joseph (Ruth), Ruth, Stella (Ron) and sister-in-laws. He leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews, spiritual children and friends. He was predeceased by parents Andrew and Katherina, siblings William, John, Peter, Michael, Paul, Mary, and Alexander. Stephen was born on April 1, 1923 and was the 6th of 11 children. He enjoyed a happy and busy life as a young man on the family farm in Chatfield, Manitoba. He was privileged to experience a spiritual upbringing and symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God through baptism in 1942 at the age of 19. He met the love of his life, Evelyn, on a double date. They were married March 2, 1949 and that loving bond lasted 62 years. In 1966 their lives changed forever when they welcomed their daughter, Deborah, to the family. Stephen spent his days busy as a plumber but his real life's work was preaching the good news of God's Kingdom. Throughout their lives they lovingly opened up their home to many family and friends. Most still call Ruby Street home to this day. Stephen was a loving, generous, and kind man with a real sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all and we look forward to seeing him again in Jehovah's promised new world. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the St. Boniface Hospital staff for their kind and diligent care. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 227 Lakewood Blvd.
