PETER BENSON 1919 - 2011 Peacefully on April 11, 2011, at St. Boniface Hospital, Peter Benson passed away at the age of 91 years. Peter is survived by his loving wife Doris of 68 years; his son Gordon (Maureen); his daughter Lynn (Rick); his grandchildren Kim (Nathan), Christine (Jason), Adrienne (Noel), Jennifer (Rick), Ryan (Laura); and great grandchildren Alex and Evan. Peter was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He served in the armed forces and was stationed in Jamaica during the Second World War, leaving the army as an honoured veteran. He was employed by Dominion Tanners as a maintenance engineer for many years and retired from the firm at the age of 65. Peter loved to travel with Doris and several friends to numerous locations in the United States, a favorite of which was Hawaii. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking projects and creating games for his children and grandchildren. Family and friends are left with fond memories of his honour, his soft spoken and kind nature as well as his trusted advice. We will miss his love and support as well as his sense of humor. Cremation has taken place and, at Peter's request, there will be no service.
