Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL LEON OBSNIUK November 10, 1918 - April 16, 2011 Peacefully with family by his side, our Dad passed away at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB. He was 92 years old. Dad was the youngest of 12 children. He was predeceased by his parents Anna in 1948 and Leon in 1964; his seven brothers Victor, George, Elmer, Peter, Stanley, Martin and Dan and his four sisters Rebecca, Carrie, Marion and Helen. Dad is survived by his children Kathy (David), Anthony (Sharon), Sandra (Mike), Patricia (Wayne), Lorraine (Roderick), Beverly (Doug), Lawrence (Kim), Marilyn (Doug), Mark and Linda (Gerry). He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren Tracy, Mark (Ann), Jody, Jeff (Jen), Crystal (Frank), Aaron, Brandi, Karilee, Derek (Monica), Ashley (Shane), Micheal, Keith, Trent, Desiree, Cassandra, Lovell and Sandy, eight great-grandchildren Kayla, Shawna, Brooklyn, Carter, Sydney, Porter, Brynn and Saskia. Dad also leaves behind his sisters-in-law Marvel and Germaine from Manitoba, Ans, Tini, Connie and Toos from the Netherlands, as well as their families. Dad loved to fish and work on the farm when he was able. He loved to entertain his children, and later his grandchildren, with many stories of when he was growing up. We never got tired of hearing them. He was an avid carpenter and liked to create many things out of wood. He enjoyed this until his eyesight failed. Dad served in Queens Own Cameron overseas where he met and married our Mother in 1946. They were married for 49 years until her passing in 1995. After the war, he did numerous jobs until he became employed with the CNR as a truck driver until his retirement. We, the family of Mike, would like to thank Dr. Ramadan and staff of the Lakeshore Hospital for their care and compassion, the Home Care workers of the Ashern Pioneer Manor and the people responding to our Dad's lifeline. A warm thank you to all the people who visited our Dad during his stay at the Manor, he always looked forward to these visits, especially Lawrence Adams and Leslie Ivaniski who were very close to him. We are very grateful to John Gray of Arnason Funeral Home for his help with Dad's funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A family memorial will be held on May 29, 2011 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern, MB. Thank you, Dad, for your wisdom, kindness and especially your love. You will be dearly missed.
