ARTHUR (ART) WIEBE With deep sadness the family announces the passing of Art Wiebe on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at St. Boniface Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Art is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Tena, sons Don (Shirley), Ray (Joan), Rick (Teresa), daughters MaryLynn (Myron), Diane, stepchildren Sandy (Barry), Paul (Eleanor); grandchildren Clinton, Shea (Andie), Krista (Kelly), Kraig, Kristian, Jennifer Lee, Kyle, Michelle Lynn, Jenna, Tyler, Dustin, Jordan and Mackenzie. Art leaves to mourn, his sisters Elsie and Agnes as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives of the Wiebe, Rempel and Hamm families. Art was born December 8, 1930, the son of Philip Johan Wiebe and Maria Rempel and was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Mary (nee Hamm) in 1994 and his siblings Anna, Mary, Martha, Philip, Philip, Johann, Teresa and William. Art was a hardworking and enterprising man who farmed for many years in Domain, eventually moving on to other endeavours such as driving for Reimer Express Lines and his own businesses in Morden before retiring and moving to Winnipeg in 2003. Dad was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many as well as a devout and dedicated Christian and servant of his Lord and Saviour. He will be remembered for his gentle manner, kindness to others and his keen sense of humor. He enjoyed coffee, cards, games, fellowship and gatherings with his large extended family and numerous friends from Lindenwoods Estates, Morden area and the church community where he sang in various choirs. Viewing will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Ave, Winnipeg. Interment at LaSalle Mennonite Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Portage Avenue Church. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Cancer Care Manitoba, Victoria Hospital Emergency and the compassionate and caring staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following organizations: Family Life Network, Cancer Care Manitoba, St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit or the charity of your choice.
