Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL CHRUSTIE 1924 - 2011 It is with our deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of our beloved father and husband Russell Chrustie. Dad fought a courageous battle over the last two years and peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2001 at the Lion's Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Dad will always be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 58 years Ann and sons Dwaine (Ann) children Teague and Shanleigh of Newmarket, Ontario and Brent (Lynne) children Brenden and Curtis of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is also survived by brother Bill (Margurette) of Winnipeg, Manitoba and sister Elsie Shyiak of Thunder Bay, Ontario as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by his parents Nick and Francine Chrustie; brothers John Chrustie, Walter Chrustie, Paul Chrustie and Martin Chrustie; as well as sister Stella Chrustie. Russell was born on November 21, 1924 in Westbourne, Manitoba. He then moved as a young child to Alonsa, Manitoba, where he later met Ann and started their life together on the farm. Russell was very much a people person who had enormous community spirit. Russell served on numerous committees and was politically active. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alonsa Community Centre. Interment to follow at St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery with Father Emil Kardasenic as celebrant. On behalf of the family a sincere thank you to all the nurses and staff at Lion's Prairie Manor for Dad's care over the last two years.
