MARIE ROSIE CATHERINE ANDREWS Marie Rosie Catherine Andrews left us suddenly on December 19, 2010 at the age of 89. Marie was born February 18, 1921 and raised in Birtle, MB. She worked for the Birtle Telephone Exchange for two years and then enlisted in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRCNS) in November 1942. Marie served in Galt, Toronto and Halifax and was discharged November 1945 as Leading Wren - Telephone Operator. Marie worked for the T. Eaton Co. in Toronto 1946 to 1947. Upon returning to Winnipeg, she was employed with T.G. Breen Motor Co., Century Motors and S. J. Kernaghan Insurance Adjustors. She retired in 1986. Marie was a member of the Insurance Women's Association of MB, the Xana Business Professional Women's Club, held many offices with the Ex-Wren Association - Chippawa Division and also was a member of the Birtle Legion Branch #55. Marie's many years of retirement were filled with travelling, golfing, happy times spent with friends at the cottage at Winnipeg Beach; she was an avid Bomber fan and a talented artist. Family and friends were the recipients of her wonderful paintings. Marie was predeceased by her father in 1951, her mother in 1979 and her brother Francis in 2000, her sister-in-law Shirley in 2007. She is survived by six nieces and nephews and their families, her cousin and family of Cornwall, England and many treasured friends. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Birtle, MB at a later date.
