Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELFORT SWIDINSKY November 21, 1934 April 10, 2011 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother on April 10, 2011, at home. Mel leaves to mourn his wife Stella of 54 years, daughter Sandra, sons Ronald (Marylea) and Kenneth (Shelly), and grandchildren Cailea, Daniel, Brett and Derek. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Irene, Marion, Stella and Talia, and his brothers Robert and Donald, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mel was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Helena, his sister Olga and brothers Roman and John. Born and raised in Rossburn, Manitoba on November 21, 1934. Mel attended Teachers College and University of Manitoba, graduating with BA and MA (History). Mel fulfilled his lifetime dream of reuniting with family in the Ukraine on six occasions visiting Lviv, Borschiv, Ternopil and Krowinka. Mel was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter, St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Avenue. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street with Reverend Father Mark Gnutel officiating. Donations would be greatly appreciated towards the purchase of a new set of Embroidered Altar Linens from Ukraine for the Church. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
