Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN ALLISON MCDOUGALL February 5, 1926 - April 15, 2011 Born in Winnipeg, passed peacefully in Victoria with niece Lynn at her side. Predeceased by parents Alice and Dougald McDougall, survived by sister Lois (Thompson) of Guelph, Ontario. Beloved aunt to Lynn, Doug (Elaine), Jamie (Avon) and Criss, and great-aunt to Duncan, Chester, Islay, Faryn, Celeste and Rosalie. Beloved sister-in-law to John Thompson, husband of Lois. Treasured friend to hundreds, some still living and others passed before her to welcome her in celebration now. Jean's early education was in St. James and Winnipeg. Graduated from University of Manitoba with the degree Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1947. Following internship (dietetics) at Toronto General Hospital, remained on staff there for a short time. Worked at Sunnybrook Hospital (DVA) until 1959. She then returned to Winnipeg and worked at Deer Lodge Hospital (DVA). In 1966 Jean went to the St. Boniface General Hospital as the Head of Dietetics Department and retired from there in 1984. During her years in Winnipeg, Jean enjoyed many good times at the family cottage at Ponemah Beach, Manitoba, on Lake Winnipeg. After she retired to Victoria, she returned to Ponemah Beach on several occasions, renewing friendships and these were very special occasions. Jean became an inveterate and passionate world traveller. Jean had many friends in all parts of Canada, especially in Ontario, Manitoba and Victoria, BC. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honour Jean's life and memory will be held at SEQUOIA GARDENS MEMORIAL, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with refreshments to follow. Officiating: Reverend Ross White of Cadboro Bay United. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity or church of one's choice.
