ANTON (TONY) FUNK On April 15, 2011 at Concordia Hospital, Anton Funk, beloved husband of Maria, went home to heaven at the age of 53 years. On May 27, 1957 Tony was born to Johann T. (deceased) and Aganetha (Kehler) Funk in Loma Plata Colonei Menno, Chaco, Paraguay. On June 18, 1977 Tony married his beloved Maria Wiebe. They were blessed with their son Armando (Carolyn) and daughter Marie Angela (Mike). Tony was Opa to Richard, Brandon, Hailey and Madeleine. He was great-grandpa to Lydia Ava. Tony is also survived by his mother Aganetha Funk; two sisters Hedi (Ferdinand) and Lina; five brothers Alvin (Tina), Harry (Sussie), Wilfried (Rosewitha), Herbert (Hildegard), and Paulhans (Roselly); and six nieces and seven nephews. Tony brought his family to Canada on April 19, 1983 and remained joyously. Tony had worked for Palliser for 28 years as a machine operator. Tony was a very loving husband, a caring father and a good provider for his family. He will be greatly missed, especially the wonderful cooking he did. He loved his family very much and was always ready to give a listening ear or a helping hand. He had lots of friends who will also miss him. Tony was a loving dad who enjoyed family, friends, sports and the great outdoors. Few things made his happier than making a fantastic barrel BBQ and a great big bowl of sipplezup. Being my loving father, he taught kindness, caring, compassion and respect. I will carry you in my heart forever Dad. I love you. Tony was a selfless man who was always there to lend a hand. He loved entertaining and satisfied many appetites with his famous barrel BBQs. He was a man of true compassion who touched the lives of many. Above all, he loved his family more than anything. He will be greatly missed. We love you Dad and Opa. Viewing will be at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharon Bay, with interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
