MARIA DOS ANJOS MELO-MEDEIROS January 14, 1930 - April 17, 2011 On the morning of April 17, 2011, Maria passed away peacefully at the Maples Personal Care Home with her loving family at her side. Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Miguel in 1991. She leaves to mourn her passing, son Manuel (Normanda) Raposo and their sons, Jeff and Danny; daughter Margaret (Luis) Sousa and their children, Kevin (Nicole) and Jenny (Wally); Eddy (Maria) Melo and their sons, Matthew and Adam; son Everett (Rosa) Medeiros; son John (Grace) Medeiros and their sons, Steven and Chris; son Joe (Barb) Melo and their daughters, Cindy (Dino) and Theresa; four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Maria was born in San Miguel, Acores, Portugal, daughter of Joao and Margarida Goncalves. She came to Canada in 1967 with her five sons and one daughter to meet her beloved Miguel who had arrived in 1964 to carve out a better life for their family. Maria lived at the Maples Personal Care Home for the past three years where she was given excellent care by the staff on the 2nd floor. The family would like to thank them for all of their hard work and care throughout this time. A special thank you to Zamina and Tina for their extra special care and love given to Mom during these past few years. She will be missed dearly and loved always by her family and friends. If friends so desire, contributions may be made in her memory to a charity of choice in lieu of flowers. Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. with Rev. Father Wladimir Porreca officiating. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20 at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. with Rev. Father Wladimir Porreca Celebrant.
