EMELDA TARDIFF (nee LACHARITE) 1915 - 2011 Peacefully Emelda Tardiff passed away at Sunnywood Manor in Pine Falls, MB on April 15, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, daughters, Denise and Susan, and siblings, Philip Lacharite, Paul Lacharite, Irene Tardiff, Rose Gingras and Jeanette Lemire. Emelda is survived by Gerry (Debbie), Philip, Dominic, Chad, great-granddaughter Brittney and Terry Wales who was always like a daughter to her. Mom worked at St. Boniface Hospital in the laundry department when she was single. After marrying dad they lived in South Junction for a couple of years and then moved to Powerview because dad started working at the paper mill. After we were all going to school mom worked at the Aboriginal Hospital in Pine Falls and then the General Hospital as a domestic until she retired when she turned 60. They then moved to Winnipeg where mom stayed for 27 years until she moved to St. George and then back to Powerview. Mom was a beautiful seamstress and did sewing until she turned 90. She made the best apple pies until then as well. Her grandchildren loved it when she made some especially for them. Mom was always young at heart. She loved to go out and see things. Playing aggravation with the boys and Brittney was always a highlight of her day. She was always there for us with her opinions even though we did not always want to hear them, she was usually so right. We always knew that no matter what we did she would always listen to whatever we had to say and she loved us so much. She taught us to be strong and never give up. She was a great inspiration to all of us. Mom believed a lot in prayer and would always say her rosary every day, even more whenever she heard that someone was ill or finding times hard she always said a rosary for them. One of mom's greatest wishes was to go up in a hot air balloon. She tried three times and there was always something that went wrong at the last minute and the balloon could not go up. Well mom you are now gone on the trip of a life time. God is waiting for you with open arms. Today our mother, grandmother and best friend is gone. We are sad to see you go but are comforted in knowing that you are at peace and that God has taken a loving and caring soul to be with him. Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20 in the Notre-Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church in Powerview, MB, with Father James Gray presiding. Interment will take place at a later date at the St. Boniface Cemetery. Until we meet again, we love you, Mom.
