JOHN MAYFIELD WILLIAMS Peacefully after a brief illness, on Sunday, April 17, 2011 with family by his side, John Williams, beloved husband of Ruth, passed away at Stonewall Hospital. John was born on January 26, 1947 in Stonewall. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 26 years Ruth. His children, Tom (Sherri) Mollard, Rob (Trish) Mollard, Janice (Gord) Warner, Ed (Stacy) Mollard, grand-children Troy, Shelby, Josh, Mac, Preston and Shelby. Sister Kathleen (Bill) Smith, nephews Dave (Barb) Smith and children Caitlan, Jessica and Curtis and Scott (Colleen) Smith and their children Ali and Cade. John was predeceased by his parents Mayfield (2003) and Kathleen (2002). Also left to remember him are brother- and sisters-in-law Bill (Clara) Campbell, Don Campbell, Bob (Joann), Alice (Henry) Meier and their four families. John began his working career at Nutty Club until April of 1974. At that time he commenced working at CPR which he proudly served until August of 1974. Retirement did not suit John so in September of 2004 he began driving for Adessa. John's work was his passion as were the many friends he made along the way. He loved to be with them. John's other interests included bowling and curling but none were as important to him as working with the gang at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 52. John would never turn down an opportunity to help out in the community. Despite all of that, John was always able find some time to sneak in the odd game of bingo. John's good luck was legendary and his list of winnings goes on forever whether he got the opportunity to shout out bingo or quietly purchase a ticket. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall.
