LYNNE GREENAWAY After a long and difficult struggle with diabetes, Lynne Deirdre Greenaway died peacefully at Lions Personal Care Centre, on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Lynne was born January 27, 1949 the only daughter of John and Audre Greenaway. She is survived by her father and her step-mother, Louise Greenaway of Portage la Prairie; and by her brother William Neville of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her nieces, the Neville sisters Sarah (Bob Dodds), Elissa (Tim Nykoluk) and Jessica (Jason Azuelos) and their children; and by her former sister-in-law Anita Neville. Lynne was born and educated in Winnipeg and lived here all of her life except for short periods in the 1950s spent in Ottawa and Edmonton. From an early age she developed a great love of reading and of music, with tastes that ran from the Beatles and Liona Boyd to Mozart, Chopin and beyond. She was an enthusiast of the great classic movies and, with the advent of videos and DVDs, over time built up a small but select library of her favourites. She was an avid reader of fiction, poetry, biographies and mysteries, Ruth Rendell being a particular favourite. She had a wry wit and could see the humourous side of most misfortunes, including her own. John, Louise, Bill and the other members of Lynn's family wish to acknowledge the devoted Home Care she received at her earlier residence, Villa Nova. They also wish to express their particular appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Lions Personal Care Centre where Lynne spent the last ten months of her life. The staff at Lions showed great understanding, compassion and kindness to Lynne and the family, and spared no effort to help lighten the difficulties of her last days. As Lynne wished, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynne's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra.
