ANNE SMITH July 18, 1928 - April 10, 2011 It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our most precious gift that life had given to us, our Mom. At Victoria General Hospital with her family and one of her special friends Mary, by her side, Mom left us to not only mourn, but to remember all the special and wonderful times we spent together. Mom will be sadly missed and lovingly cherished by her daughter Lorrie, her son Harold and her daughter-in-law Tillie whom Mom loved like her own. Her sister Rose and sisters-in-law, Olive, Pearl, Olecia and Elise, along with numerous nieces and nephews will also be grieving the loss. Anne was predeceased by the love of her life, Harold, her husband of 31 years; and her parents, Andrew and Dora. She also lost her brothers, Nick, Henry, Peter, Michael; and sister Mary. Mom was born in MacNutt, SK, lived in Yorkton for awhile then moved to Winnipeg to work. While working at Robinson Little Company she met Harold, fell in love, and were married in 1951. She stayed home to raise her children, and that job was the accomplishment which made her the happiest. Mom also volunteered at Norberry Community Club, along with Dad, for well over two decades and was presented with awards three times throughout her lifetime. In 1987 she was Volunteer of the year for Norberry CC. In 1988 she was awarded with not only a plaque but also a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister of Canada for her contribution to the community. And in 1997 she was honoured with a reception and the Norberry CC Builders Award in recognition of outstanding support and many years of dedicated service. Mom was a champion bowler too. She won many trophies and loved her Friday night league because of all the laughs they had. Both her and Dad looked forward to those delightful times because of all the many friends they had made. Mom also helped Lorrie win numerous mother and daughter tournaments with YBC, because she excelled at the sport. She was also one of the Blue Bombers biggest fans and rarely missed a game on TV. You could ask her stats about any player, who should be traded, or anything regarding the team, and Mom knew what she was talking about. She also enjoyed watching curling, skating and her favourite, Dancing with the Stars. We will truly miss all our dinners together which Mom made sure we never missed. She always did the cooking for us, even last years Christmas. Harold, her son, will fondly remember always helping her out in the kitchen while the girls chatted in the living room. That brought her joy to see us having giggles and spending time around the dinner table, which I can assure you we did. We will also feel a void with no daily phone calls and all the time spent together telling stories. Mom's kindness, caring, love, generosity, compassion, giving, support, humour and the all round essence of her charming personality will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank the staff from Home Care and the kind staff at CancerCare. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation will take place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anne's memory may be made to CancerCare or any charity of one's choice. LOVE YOU MA----- WE WILL FOREVER MISS OUR DEARIE THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
