WINSTON (WYNN) NORTON, Q.C. The family of Winston (Wynn) Norton wishes to announce his peaceful passing at Vista Park Lodge on Friday, April 8, 2011. Born in Deloraine, Manitoba, Wynn was raised on a farm with his mother and father, and six siblings. He was educated in the same district. After graduation from High School, he worked in Winnipeg at McDonald Bros. Aircraft, before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941, where he served until October, 1945. After his discharge from the Air Force, he decided to go to University in the field of Law. He attended the University of Winnipeg for two years, entering Manitoba Law School in 1948. He graduated in 1951, and was called to the Bar in the same year. He entered into the business field in Brandon from 1951 to 1953, returning to practice law in Winnipeg in 1953. He practiced law in the field of litigation and labour law. He served as Aide-de-Camp to Lieutenant-Governors Errick Willis and Richard Bowles, from 1960 to 1970. In 1959, he was appointed Queen's Counsel, and in 1980, was appointed as a Provincial Court Judge until his retirement in 2003. In his early years in law, Wynn was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Kinsmen Club and the Gyro Club. He was Chairman of the Easter Seal Campaign in 1960. He always believed in taking part in community affairs and was active in politics in his early career. His philosophy of life was always to help those less fortunate in life. He believed that you should give back to your country, and did so, without hesitation. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his first wife, Vivian and his six siblings. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his four children, Meredith, of Salmon Arm, BC, Laurel (John), of Vancouver, BC, Blair, of the Philippines, Tony (Anita), of San Diego, California; and grandchildren, David and Adrian, of Vernon, BC; and step-grandchildren, Brice and Andrea, of San Diego, California. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Bruce, of Calgary, AB, Jeff (Rhonda), of North Bay, ON and Kathy (Sandy), of Winnipeg, MB; and his step-grandchildren, Josh, Evan, Robert and Troy. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Wynn's memory to a charity of their choice. The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and staff at Vista Park Lodge for their loving and compassionate care provided to Wynn. A Come and Go Celebration of Wynn's life will be held on Friday, April 29 at the Niakwa Golf and Country Club, 620 Niakwa Road, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to: www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
