Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR STEFANIA BENSON Peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2011 Eleanor Benson, age 94 years, a lifelong resident of Selkirk, passed away at the Tudor Home. Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews: Barbara Biernes, Carol (Jim) McNeill, Tannis (Garry) Evers, Doug Bale, Murray (Leslie) Benson, Janet (Terry) Kreutz, Tannis (Doug) Bateman, John Benson, Bev Benson, Ken Benson, Don (Lori) Benson, Loreen (Doug) Poier, Bob (Pat) Benson and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Bjorgdis and Runolfur Benson, brothers Harold, Lorne, Vernon and Leslie; sisters Sigrun Jardine and Sylvia Bale; sisters-in-law Waty, Vera, Gladys and Glenna; brothers-in-law Ralph Jardine and Ralph Bale; niece Denise Holton and her daughter Meagan. Eleanor was a very caring and compassionate person who was always there to help her family which was evident by her close relationship with her sister-in-law Gladys Benson. She loved music and was also very proud of her Icelandic heritage. In her earlier years she was a member of the Selkirk Glee Club and was a devoted member of the Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church choir. Eleanor enjoyed attending many concerts, especially an Icelandic performance. A memorial service will be held at the Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Staff of the Tudor Home for their compassionate care.
