Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA HELEN FORZLEY (nee MITCHELL) 1933 - 2011 It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Barbara Helen Forzley on April 24, 2011, at the age of 78 years. Barb is survived by her children Dan (Heidi), Gord (Penney), Dianne (Darren); her pride and joy, grandson Mike; her nieces Dale, Cheryl, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband George Joseph, her parents Harry and Ida, her brother and sister-in-law Doug and Phyllis, and her parents-in-law Samuel and Kareemy. Mom was born in Winnipeg on January 18, 1933. She was raised in the West End where she attended Isaac Brock and graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in 1951. Mom would spend her summers out in Glenboro helping out on the farm and during the school year she would work at her dad's coal company. Upon completion of high school, mom worked for the City of Winnipeg where she met dad. Mom and dad were married in 1959 and were together for 47 years until dad's passing in 2006. Once the kids were born, mom was a stay at home mom and her life revolved around us kids and her and dad's involvement in the Masonic family, especially Ancient Landmark Lodge #3, and the Khartum Shrine. Mom was member of the Daughters of the Nile Sphinx Temple #116 for 30 years. In 1982, she started her involvement with the International Order of Job's Daughters and Bethel #9. Mom devoted countless hours to all of the organizations in which she was involved. Mom was also very involved in donating her time and efforts to the community. She knit hundreds of mitts and touques to be donated to the homeless and collected thousands of hotel sized soaps and shampoos that were donated to Osborne House and Siloam Mission. The family would like to thank Dr. Nason, Shell, and the staff at Clinic 1 CancerCare Manitoba for all of the care and support they gave to mom and our family during mom's fight with cancer. We always knew that mom was receiving the best care possible. We would also like to thank the staff at Health Sciences Hospital Emergency for their efforts and care for mom just prior to her passing. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
