DAVID EDWARDS 1940 - 2011 Surrounded by his family, Dave passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife Doreen, his daughters: Karen (Malcolm), Brenda (Dwayne), his grandchildren: Sean, Caitilin (Ryan), Colleen, Cameron, and Amanda, and great-grandchild Riley, his brother Clifford (Esther) and sister Lois (Geb), mother-in-law Laural, sisters-in-law: Dianne and Grace (Dave), brother-in-law Garth (Cecily), numerous nephews and nieces, and special friends Daryl and Marie. Dave was predeceased by his father Clarence, mother Phyllis and brother-in-law Alex. Born in Winnipeg he grew up on Ingersol Street and attended Principal Sparling, Sargent Park and Daniel McIntyre and made many lifelong friends there. Dave retired from Winnipeg Hydro in 2002. During his time he was involved in CUPE 500 and was a Honorary Life Member. After retirement Dave moved to Gimli full time and found old and new friends at Legion 182 and the Horizon 55 plus club. There he enjoyed horseshoes, cribbage, canasta, shuffleboard and floor curling. He loved to sit and read the paper at the Gimli Library and watch the lake. Dave loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hours of golfing, fishing, being at the beach and taking his dogs for walks. Trips to Mexico with his wife were cherished, he so loved the sunshine. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
