Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIDA MAE SHAW July 10, 1928 - April 25, 2011 With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our Mother Ida at the age of 82. Ida was born in Niagara Falls, NY where she met her loving husband Art. They moved with their three children to Art's hometown Winnipeg in 1968. In addition to raising her family Ida was an active volunteer for many organizations often in the support of children in schools and recreation. These roles ranged from Cub Scout Den mother, member of the PTA, and Leader of the Recreation Commission. After Art's passing in 1974 Ida began work at Videon (Shaw) Cable where she quickly rose to Account's Supervisor. After forced retirement at age 65 Ida worked part-time and returned to volunteering with Stats. Canada and the Manitoba Lung Association. Her final act of giving began in 2000 as a volunteer in the Guidance Department at R.B. Russell High School. Volunteering every Monday and Tuesday wasn't enough for Ida. She shared her passion for baking by bringing dozens of cookies, muffins and squares for staff and students to enjoy. She was affectionately known as the Cookie Lady . Her Videon and RB Russell families filled the void left after Art's passing and enriched her life immensely. Ida touched the lives of so many with her warmth, humour, kindness, generosity and love. Left behind to continue celebrating life is her daughter Gaeta, son Art (Linda), son Jim; brothers Frank, Jim, Mike, Sam; nephew Bobby (Dee Dee); granddaughter Kris (Brad); grandson Noel (Charolette) great-grandchildren Destiny, Autumn, Leah, Edessa, Olivia, Gracie; friend Sheri. Ida was predeceased by her parents James and Josephine, her bother Chuck, sister-in-law Joan, niece Debbie; granddaughters Erin and Diana. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior at The Bridge Church, 620 Oxbow Bend Road (located at the southwest corner of Portage Avenue and the W. Perimeter Hwy.). Ida was greatly loved and will be sadly missed. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

I had the pleasure of working with Ida back in the good old days at Videon. Once I got past the tough exterior I found someone who was an incredible person who gave so much of her self without expecting anything in return. Our working relationship became a friendship. After her retirement she would keep in touch, at the least annually when she would call me to remind me my birthday was coming up and arrange to meet at Tony Roma's. A golden heart has stopped beating on earth, our loss is truly heavens gain, thank you again Mrs Shaw. - Posted by: Derek Fingler (Co-Worker) on: Apr 29, 2011
