SHIRLEY EDITH BERNICE LAWRIE (CROY) December 26, 1938 April 25, 2011 On Monday, April 25, 2011 with the warm sun shining on her through the window, and her children at her side, Shirley passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord. Born in Stonewall December 26, 1938 Shirley grew up and married in Stonewall, moving to the Inwood area and raising her three children on a farm on the Clarkleigh Road (pth229). She then moved from the farm in 1977, settling in Selkirk where she remained for 20 years. Shirley worked as a home care worker before retiring and moving back to her home town of Stonewall for her remaining years. Shirley was always very active. A member of the Red River Cloggers for many years, she also loved painting, cycling and travelling. Shirley's most treasured times though, were those spent with her children, grandchildren and her great- grandchild, rarely missing any of their activities. Shirley was predeceased by her infant son Terry, parents Jack and Edith Lawrie, and her brothers Don and John Lawrie and sister Grace Gillespie. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Sharon Neely (Wayne) of Warren, son Jim Croy (Sandy) of Petersfield, son Ken Croy (Karen) of Winnipeg; her grandchildren Donny (Sara), Angie (Derek), Jenna (Steve), Mandy (Lennon), Bradley, Jessica, Sara, Rayla, Stephanie, Ryan and Reagan; great-granddaughter Abby; her sister Olive Cretney (Val) of Duncan, BC and sister-in-law Annette Lawrie of Ottawa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Ventener, the Stonewall Home Care staff and the Nursing staff of the Stonewall Hospital for their outstanding care. Also a special thank you to Dr. Bshouty and Lynn of the H.S.C. Respiratory Clinic for their excellent care of our Mom and Grandma. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
