DORIS (DOLLY) IRENE MCEACHERN Peacefully, with her family by her side, Doris (Dolly) Irene McEachern (née Poole), born April 18, 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, died on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Concordia Place Personal Care Home, one week after celebrating her 90th birthday. Dolly was predeceased by her husband Bob; and daughter Roberta; her brothers, Lawrence, Allan and Bob; and sisters, Allison and Arlene. She is survived by her children, Marlene (Lorne), Jim (Diana) and Tom (Roberta); grandchildren, Crystal, Chantel, Carlyn, Laurel, Rob and Amanda; and 10 great-grandchildren. Dolly will also be missed by her sisters, Edie, Lillian, Lorraine (Joe); brother Ken (Judy); sister-in-law Bernice and many nieces and nephews. Dolly spent many years involved in competitive 5-pin bowling, representing the city and province in numerous Western Canadian and National championships. Dolly had a great sense of humour and loved to have a good time with family and friends. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, trips to the casino and summers at the cottage. We will treasure our memories of many Sunday night dinners at Mom's house. Dolly and Bob raised their family and lived in the same house in Elmwood for over 50 years. Special thanks to the caring staff of Concordia Place Personal Care Home. A memorial service celebrating Dolly's life will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice.
