GERALD GEORGE PAUL HAGUE ~ Do not regret getting older, it is a privilege denied to many ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry on April 19, 2011 at the age of 57, who fought a long courageous battle with cancer. Gerry was thankful to be surrounded by family and friends in the last weeks of his life. He passed away peacefully with his loving wife and best friend of 34 years Venise (nee Regnier) and his daughter Carla by his side. Gerry is survived by his mother Gertrude, sister Marie (Ron), brothers George (Ninon) and Kevin (Carol) as well as brothers-in-law Wilfrid (Joan), Luc (Paulette), sisters-in-law Edna (Lucien), Linda (Karl), Francoise (Raymond) and Marilyn. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and caring friends. He was predeceased by his father Charles, infant sister Gisele, parents-in-law Leopold and Cecile Regnier, brother-in-law Orval. Gerry was born September 1, 1953 in Winnipeg. He built lasting memories with family from Notre Dame de Lourdes, created life long friendships growing up on St. Charles Street, and cherished the years spent at the cottage. Gerry was a man of few words but when he spoke, it had substance. He had a quick wit and a good sense of humour that made him likable by all who knew him. He had a passion for wood working, his one regret was not having started sooner. It was mentioned by many he was a true gentleman, always a good host! He would like to be remembered as such. The family would like to personally thank Geoff for all his help and thank the compassionate staff in the Palliative Care Unit 3E at Riverview Health Centre and a special thank you to Dr. P Czaykowski and Denise Klassen at Cancer Care Manitoba. To honour Gerry's memory, please grow a flower, shrub or tree and remember him as it flourishes. Donations may also be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or Riverview Health Centre - Palliative Care Unit 3E. Celebration of Gerry's life has already taken place in a private ceremony April 25th at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home. ~ Roses whisper what words cannot say ~
