Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCOLLEEN MAY JENNINGS It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen May Jennings on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Colleen was an aunt, sister, daughter, and mother to her niece. As an ICU, cardiac care, and emergency nurse, she helped and saved more lives than can be counted. There will be a private family goodbye held for Colleen. We ask of those that loved her, please take a few moments to reflect kindly on her and send love that she may take with her wherever her next journey leads. In memoriam of Colleen's life, a brick will be placed at Assiniboine Park, a place Colleen loved. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Assiniboine Park Zoo or to an animal shelter. From love to babe, child to woman, and now to sky, sweet peace Colleen. Know our love follows your journey, wherever it may take you.

We lost touch after I left the city. I have been out of Winnipeg for twenty years. The Canadian military moved me several times. We met after high school and became fast friends. Colleen and I had a lot in common. We grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same high school. She loved cats and animals in general. Colleen worked at a local pet store in Fort Rouge in her late teens or early twenties. She was very independent and somewhat adventurous with life style choices before her nursing career. I loved her for all of who she was. We often had long talks, many visits, and she helped me with my pets in our early to mid twenties. Colleen often talked about her niece.and how she felt like a parent to her. Colleen had such beautiful, loving qualities. I often think of her and I am very sorry for your loss. I only read about her career, health issue that made her sick and her passing a few years ago. It broke my heart to see that the family and the rest of the world lost such an amazing woman. I do hope her spirit lives on in her family and loved ones. She does for me. Colleen was one of the warmest, sweetest, wittiest women I've ever known. So intelligent and caring, she was a kind shoulder to lean on. A lovely and loving person. And she was an excellent nurse. I'm proud to have known her and saddened by her passing at such a young age. The world is definitely a lesser place without her.
