Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM HENRY (BILL) CRANE September 21, 1921 - April 25, 2011 Peacefully, surrounded by family on April 25, 2011 at the Grace Hospital, our beloved father and grandfather passed away. Dad was predeceased by his wife Elna, brother Jim, father Henry and mother Anne. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Ted (Melody), daughter Donna Nowicki (Frank), and grandchildren Louis (Ilda), Julian, Dan (Melissa), Meaghan, Paul and Thomas. Dad grew up in Brandon, Manitoba. He began his career as a clerk at the Dominion Bank at the age of 17. He enjoyed a career in banking that spanned over 40 years. He eventually became an AGM of the Toronto Dominion Bank, after managing several branches. Dad also served his country in the Second World War for three and a half years. Upon returning, he married Elna Baglo, the love of his life , and was happily married for 47 years. Together they spent many happy summers at Clear Lake golfing, entertaining and enjoying their children and grandchildren. They also spent several years travelling south to Palm Springs. Dad and Mom had been active members of the Winter Club, Niakwa Golf and Country Club and the St. Charles Golf and Country Club. Dad was also active in the Clear Lake Men's golf club. He volunteered as their treasurer for many years, and enjoyed numerous friendships with club members into his 80s. He was also an enthusiastic volunteer and supporter of the Christmas Cheer Board. His family will miss his enduring kindness and compassion. Dad gave his unconditional love to all of us throughout his lifetime. Dad's love and adoration of his grandchildren was evident in the hours he spent with them, and in countless trips to hockey arenas, family dinners and birthday parties. His sense of humour was appreciated and enjoyed by family, friends and all who knew him. We would like to thank the staff on the 2nd floor of the Grace Hospital for their care and kindness during Dad's last days. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christmas Cheer board, or the charity of your choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
