Born: Apr 14, 1936
Date of Passing: Apr 02, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD F. WAKSDALE April 14, 1936 - April 2, 2011 Don passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a few weeks short of his 75th birthday. Don was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the Lord Roberts area. In his spare time he was a member of the James Duncan Singers and then went on to perform with the first productions of Rainbow Stage: Kiss Me Kate, Annie Get Your Gun, to name a few. As much as he loved singing he hated our winters so he headed to California in 1957 hoping to pursue his career in music. He did some singing but was interrupted with his draft in the Army. He was drafted and ironically enough was posted to Alaska for two years. We certainly had a few laughs about that. He returned to work at Standard Oil where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 1993. Don is survived by his wife Sheila; three children; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild in Concord, California. He is also survived by his sister Lynda Henson and her family in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Bob and daughter Debra. A memorial service was held April 29, 2011 in California. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Notices of sympathy may be made to precious.kat@hotmail.com You will be sorely missed.
