GILBERT BARRON Gilbert Barron, 73, of Kelowna, BC, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011. He was born to the late Adrian and Louisa Barron (nee Zastre), December 29, 1937 in Winnipeg, MB. He married Judi Olson in 1967 and raised two children, Lee and Chantal. Gilbert is survived by his mother Louisa, two children, Chantal and Lee Barron as well as four sisters Lillian, Clare, Gladys and Judy. He is also survived by two grandchildren Kathryn and Nicole Barron. Gilbert is remembered as a devoted parent and grandparent, an accomplished golfer and avid outdoorsman. Gilbert established himself as a respected heavy equipment operator in the British Columbia mining industry, retiring from Homestake's Nickel Plate Mine in 1996. Arrangements have been made with Springfield Funeral home, Kelowna, BC. According to Gilbert's wishes, he was cremated and his remains will be dispersed by the family in a private ceremony.
